Reading Christine Lavant
Venue: Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22

Christine Lavant is one of the most important writers of the last century, famous for her incredibly lyrical language and its inherent power. "I have a world and this world is on fire. And where there is fire, there is power! And this power sweeps you away." Historian Sophie Schönfeld will guide you through the evening.

Equal Pay Day
Location: DGB City Association Chemnitz, Augustusburger Straße 33

Equal Pay Day symbolically marks the statistical pay gap of 18 per cent. This is because it is the symbolic day until which women work unpaid, while men will be paid for their work from 1 January 2024.
This topic and other issues relating to gender equality and the compatibility of family, work and private life will be discussed with female candidates from the democratic parties for the local elections in Chemnitz.

Women in politics
Venue: Pentagon, Brückenstraße 17

An evening with Bundestag Vice-President Yvonne Magwas. The Vogtland native has been a member of parliament since 2013 and one of the Vice Presidents of the German Bundestag since 2021.
"A stellar career - for a woman." The fact that this sentence would not be said about a man in this way already marks the topic that will be explored this evening.
An event organised by the Evangelical Forum, Chemnitz church district.

Exhibition opening "Remembrance - Survival - Resistance - Peace"
Location: Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22
Admission: By invitation only

For International Women's Day: Textile art from around the world. An exhibition in cooperation with the Women's Museum Fürth and the association Frauen in der einen Welt e. V.
The textiles from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America tell of the art of survival. Dr Gabriele Franger from the Fürth Women's Museum has been collecting these textile works of art for decades. She will accompany the vernissage with her extensive knowledge of the contexts of the exhibits and report vividly on the connection between art and social action in public spaces.
The exhibition can be viewed at the Women's Centre until the end of May.

Textile workshop Women's history(ies) in a political context
Location: Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22

In this workshop, embroideries by Afghan women can be worked on your own textiles (T-shirts, bags, ...). During the workshop, the background to these
and about a solidarity embroidery project in Afghanistan. The workshop will be led by Dr Gabriele Franger from the Frauenmuseum Fürth, Verein Frauen in der einen Welt e. V. (Women in One World Association).

"Me Time" - film evening followed by a discussion
Venue: Weltecho, Annaberger Straße 24

In this documentary film, six protagonists recount their personal experiences of abortion and sterilisation, from unplanned pregnancy to happy motherhood and vice versa, from wanted child to "regretted motherhood". They talk openly and humorously about taboo subjects, answer provocative questions and scrutinise political laws.

Feel-good afternoon for single mothers
Location: Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22

A double burden, no time for yourself, isolation, existential fears. This is what life is often like for single parents. They do everything they can to be independent. Sometimes their own needs fall by the wayside.
The women's service club Soroptimist International Chemnitz (in formation) would like to invite single parents to a relaxed afternoon with coffee and cake, good conversation and information and a few surprises to make them feel good.

Portrait: The poet Helmina von Chezy
Venue: Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22, 09112 Chemnitz
Admission: 5 euros, reduced 4 euros

Helmina von Chezy, born in 1783, is considered one of the first female professional journalists. This portrait is about her struggle for recognition, her fees and her restless travelling across Germany with her two sons, whom she raised alone. In her lecture, Steffi Böttger paints a picture of a tirelessly hard-working woman in a book market dominated exclusively by men.
