Chemnitz City Archive - the 2014 lecture programme

The Chemnitz City Archive invites you to eight lecture and discussion evenings - two of which have once again been organised in collaboration with the Chemnitz History Society - as part of its series of events of the same name this year. The programme flyer (attached), with a print run of 2,000 copies, is now available to take away free of charge from the information desk in the town hall at Markt 1.
Last year, a total of over 400 guests attended eight lecture evenings. The organisers are looking forward to a similar response for their new programme. The event hall in the city archive building at Haus Aue 16 offers space for 60 visitors, while the events under the roof of the Volksbank in the building at Innere Klosterstraße 15 can accommodate 90 guests.

Wednesday, 15 January, 6 p.m., City Archive, Aue 16:
" ... the city's best". Church reconstruction in Chemnitz between 1945 and 2013.

Not just old files. A look behind the scenes. An offer for children and young people who would like to visit the archive during the winter holidays, accompanied by parents and grandparents.

The development of the "German" school system in Chemnitz from the Reformation to the beginning of the 19th century. On the occasion of the 475th anniversary of the introduction of the Reformation in the city.

Holdings of the Chemnitz City Archive: approx. 7,500 linear metres of archive and collection material in the Historical Archive - including: approx. 86,100 historical photos, pictures, postcards and current recordings, approx. 41.400 volumes in the library, over 45,000 plans, posters, theatre playbills, Chemnitz daily newspapers since 1800, approx. 5,170 entries in the city chronicle from 1990, approx. 5,600 linear metres of files in the central old records office.
