Introductory laughter yoga session
Venue: Classroom 5.44, Adult Education Centre at TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20
Fee: €14.10
Register via the link to the event
Laughter yoga is a holistic method that triggers the release of endorphins – the so-called ‘happiness hormones’. It has been proven that laughter yoga reduces stress, stimulates the cardiovascular system, alleviates pain, boosts the immune system and cleanses and strengthens the respiratory tract. When we laugh, around 100 muscles are activated and all the internal organs are given a vigorous massage. The course teaches the basics of laughter yoga and invites you to give it a go.
Thursday, 9 July, 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm
Tiles & Tales – Tile painting
Venue: Documentation Centre on the NSU Complex, Johannisplatz 8
Participation: free of charge, open to all age groups – no prior experience required
Register via the event link
Painting white tiles with blue paint is a centuries-old tradition – from Portuguese azulejos to Dutch Delft tiles and Turkish ceramic art. Blue on white connects many cultures – and many stories.
In this workshop at the Documentation Centre on the NSU Complex, participants will work together to design their own tiles. Using blue paint, they will create patterns, images or short narratives. In doing so, they will explore how cultural forms relate to us, our history and the present.
No prior experience is required – just a willingness to give it a go and get involved. At the end, you can take your painted tile home with you or have it form part of a group exhibition.
This event is a collaboration between the Documentation Centre on the NSU Complex and Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.

Summer Pruning – Refreshing your knowledge of fruit tree pruning
Venue: to be announced after registration
Fee: 74 euros
Register via the event link
This advanced course is aimed at those who have previously attended fruit tree pruning courses. It provides an introduction to summer pruning and serves to refresh and deepen existing knowledge.
The course focuses on the cherry tree in your own garden or the lovely farm plum tree next door, which copes much better with pruning in summer. Why is that? And how do you go about pruning a tree with so many leaves?
After a brief theoretical section to refresh your memory, you’ll have the opportunity to try it out for yourself in the meadow and put what you’ve learnt into practice under expert guidance. Questions are welcome throughout the course.
We recommend that you have previously attended the course ‘Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Pruning Old Trees’ before taking part.
Mondays, 17 August to 14 September, 1.30 pm to 3.45 pm (5 sessions)
