Ceiling repair on Albert-Schweitzer-Straße and Am Karbel
Road users please note necessary full road closure in sections Work starts in the Flemming area to repair winter road damage
In the area of the residential streets Am Karbel in the section between Talanger and Albert-Schweitzer-Straße and Albert-Schweitzer-Straße in the section between Am Karbel and Rudolf-Krahl-Straße, the carriageway will be renewed in sections.
Work to repair the surface on site will begin on Monday, 15 July. The work should be completed by 3 August 2013, with the carriageway being milled off in each case so that a new road surface can then be laid. Work on the entire construction section will begin with regulation work on both the road kerbs and the gullies in the area of the roads. The Civil Engineering Department would like to point out that the progress of the work depends crucially on compliance with the signposted stopping restrictions.
The company STRABAG AG Direktion Westsachsen has been commissioned to carry out the work. The contract is worth €95,000.
According to information from the civil engineering department, the repair of winter damage on Chemnitz's roads will begin with the repair of road surfaces in the Flemming area - for all information, see PM 392 from 20/06/2013 - www.chemnitz.de.
The city of Chemnitz has received a grant of more than 1.3 million euros for the sustainable repair of the roads. In order to enable the city to make its own contribution of 25 percent to these state funds and thus implement the special programme to repair the winter damage, Chemnitz City Council decided at its meeting on 19 June 2013 to allocate additional funds in the amount of €1.3 million. At its meeting on 19 June 2013, Chemnitz City Council approved additional funds totalling 451,000 euros, which are available in addition to the regularly planned expenditure for repairing winter damage.
Notes from the traffic authority: Residents and all other road users travelling in the area during the construction work are asked to understand and observe that a sectional full closure across the entire width of the carriageway is unavoidable for the implementation of the work. No stopping signs will be put up three days before the work begins in accordance with the road traffic regulations.
Pedestrians will of course be able to access the residential buildings at all times without restriction. Residents in particular are asked for their understanding and to observe the instructions and signage on site. In this way, residents can support the rapid progress of the construction work by ensuring that no vehicles are parked in the respective construction area, as otherwise the construction process will have to be interrupted.
