From 19 January to 1 February, the city of Chemnitz is inviting interested parties to discover the cultural and linguistic diversity of France at various locations during a two-week series of events. "Bonjour Chemnitz! Days of Franco-German Friendship" is being jointly organised by the City of Chemnitz, the Institut français Leipzig and numerous partners from Chemnitz for the first time in this form.
In addition to a moderated reading, a French get-together and film evenings in selected cinemas, the programme also offers karaoke evenings and Franco-German city walks. The entire programme can be found at www.chemnitz.de/bonjour.
Balades Dessinées - exhibition and drawn city walk
On Monday 19 January at 4 pm, the exhibition "Balades Dessinées a Mulhouse: 800 years in 800 pictures" will open in the exhibition room of the town hall, Markt 1, ground floor. Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend.
Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky and the artist Lili Terrana from Mulhouse will welcome the guests. On display is a selection of pictures from the twin city of Mulhouse, which were created for the 800th anniversary of the city of Mulhouse on Gezeichneten Stadtspaziergänge from September 2024 to September 2025.
The exhibition can be seen until 27 February during the opening hours of Chemnitz Town Hall (Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
On Tuesday, 20 January at 3 p.m., anyone interested is invited to take a walk through the city with illustrator Lili Terrana from the twin city of Mulhouse. The event is free of charge. Registration is possible until 15 January under the link to the event. Drawing skills are not required.
On one of her so-called "Balades Dessinées" (Drawn Walks), Lili Terrana will take up to 30 interested people on a walk through Chemnitz, during which the participants will be able to record the special or unusual moments of the walk in drawings using materials provided by the artist and thus rediscover the city. A translator will assist with communication.

Background
The Franco-German Days take place as part of the town twinning programme between Chemnitz and Mulhouse, France. The first friendly contacts between the two cities date back to the early 1960s. A friendship agreement "Charte d'amitié" was signed in 1981. In 1990, the mayors of both cities sealed the twinning agreement with a contract.
