BAföG Digital - online application possible

The nationwide "BAföG Digital" e-application has been available for Saxony since 1 July 2021 after a short test phase. With the "BAföG Digital" application assistant, applicants do not simply fill out forms provided online, but are given access to an online pool where they can enter all the necessary data step by step. User-friendly menu navigation and help texts support the application process, and necessary documents can be conveniently uploaded using the upload function.
The editing process can be interrupted and continued at any time, as the data is saved in a personal account. Pupils and students can use this to track the status of their application online at any time. Data transfer to subsequent applications is also included. Parents and spouses make their entries via a separate user account.
By linking "BAföG Digital" to the federal user account and the service accounts of the federal states, secure identification and authentication via the eID function of the ID card is also guaranteed. This is necessary in order to submit the BAföG application completely digitally. For applicants who do not have the technical requirements of the eID function, "BAföG Digital" also offers low-threshold access. In this case, however, the application cannot be submitted completely without media discontinuity. In this case, the application must be printed out and signed by hand.
The signed application can then be uploaded and sent with the relevant documents. Subsequent submission of documents is also possible in this way. The documents sent with or after the application are then also stored in the specialised procedure.
"BAföG Digital" can be used on all PCs, tablets and smartphones.
The corresponding information and link is expected to be available via Office 24 from 23 July 2021. The Saxon application assistant will remain active for a transitional period - probably until 31 July 2021.
Since 1 July 2021, the Social Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz, Office for Training Assistance, has already received five digitally submitted applications, which have also been successfully transferred to the Dialog21 specialist procedure.
