Artists from the twin city of Mulhouse show their work in Chemnitz
Invitation to the vernissage with Vincente Blanchard (sculpture, metal, design) and Christian Glusak (photography) on Tuesday, 15 April, 7 pm in the project room of the Chemnitzer Künstlerbund
An exhibition with works by two artists from the French twin city of Mulhouse will open on Tuesday, 15 April at 7 pm in the project room of the Chemnitz Artists' Association at Moritzstraße 19 in the presence of the two artists Vincente Blanchard and Christian Glusak. Elodie Mosnier, Cultural Officer of the City of Mulhouse, will attend the vernissage with a greeting from the twin city and introduce the two artists. On behalf of the City of Chemnitz, Head of the Cultural Office Katrin Voigt will provide information on the cultural exchange between the two twin cities. The exhibition, which is on display in the project space until 16 May, is the artistic response of Chemnitz's twin city Mulhouse to the exhibition by the two Chemnitz artists Simone Michel and Klaus Neubauer, which was shown in Mulhouse in November 2011 under the title "Fantasy in Image and Object".

About the artists:
The artist Vincente Blanchard, born in Rouen in 1958, turned to painting immediately after her admission to the "Beaux Arts" (School of Fine Arts) in Rouen.nste) in Rouen and confirmed her affinity with this subject at the "Arts Appliqués" (School of Applied Arts) in Paris. In 1991, she settled in Alsace and worked mainly in wood during her first creative period. Inspired by a right-angled curve, she began to artistically explore the theme of "invertebrates" ("invertebrates"). In a third phase, the artist's work became more graphic, inspired by plants and water, and sculptures in steel and bronze were created. Currently, Vincente Blanchard's artistic search is focussed on filled forms. "The task of an artist is not to create a work, but to evoke sensations. I am only looking for very beautiful things, I want the return of poetry through all means: through form, colour, observation of nature, light and shadow...", says the artist.
The artist Christian Glusak, born in 1958, lives and works in Mulhouse. His photographs, entitled "D'ICI ET DE MARS" ("From HERE and from MARS"), reflect the presence or absence of water in a given place. According to the artist, the photo project aimed to depict a dry zone with a proportion of moisture, "close to nothingness and bathed by the sun". To achieve this, the picture was taken with the sun at its zenith - which totally minimises the shadows - around midday, at the height of summer and in oppressive heat. The colour spectrum is at its widest under these conditions, creating a concentrated mood saturated with colour. In post-processing, all elements that distort the visibility of the subject are eliminated. "Mere photography is not the end for me, it depends on the subject, on what I want to achieve," says Christian Glusak. Starting from a visual experience and the will to realise an image idea, the photo is edited and re-edited in order to approach this idea.
