On Sunday 3 November at 11 a.m., Leipzig writer Clemens Meyer will read from his new novel "Die Projektoren" in the event hall on the 3rd floor of the TIETZ. The reading will be moderated by literary critic and journalist Karin Großmann.
Wars, Nazis, Winnetou and a Yugoslavian cowboy: in "Die Projektoren", Clemens Meyer tells the unsparing and fast-paced story of our present, which is being crushed by the past - and of incomparable characters.

From Leipzig to Belgrade, from the GDR to the People's Republic of Yugoslavia, from silver screen spectacles to adventure novels. Relentless and fast-paced, "The Projectors" tells of our present, which is being crushed by the past - and of incomparable characters: in the Velebit Mountains, a former partisan experiences the adventurous filming of the Winnetou films. Decades later, the brutal battles of the Yugoslavian wars take place in these very same places - in the midst of it all, a group of young right-wing radicals from Dortmund are forced to experience the futility of their ideology.

The author:
Clemens Meyer, born in 1977 in Halle / Saale, lives in Leipzig. His debut novel "Als wir träumten" was published in 2006, followed by "Die Nacht, die Lichter. Stories" (2008), "Gewalten. Ein Tagebuch" (2010), the novel "Im Stein" (2013), the Frankfurt Poetry Lectures "Der Untergang der Äkschn GmbH" (2016) and the short stories "Die stillen Trabanten" (2017). Clemens Meyer has received numerous prizes for his work, including the Leipzig Book Fair Prize. "Im Stein" was shortlisted for the German Book Prize and was honoured with the Bremen Literature Prize. His new novel "Die Projektoren" is on the shortlist for the German Book Prize 2024 and has been nominated for the Bavarian Book Prize 2024. Clemens Meyer has been awarded the Lessing Prize 2025 by the Free State of Saxony for his complete works.
The reading will take place as part of the Literaturforum Bibliothek project of the Saxon Library Association and is being organised in collaboration with the Sächsischer Literaturrat e. V. (Saxon Literature Council).
