The Youth Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz is modernising its administrative processes and switching the approval of advance maintenance payments to the permanent administrative act system with immediate effect. This change will make things considerably easier for the families concerned and simplify administrative processes in the long term.
What does the permanent administrative act mean?
The maintenance advance is a state benefit that helps single parents if the other parent does not fulfil their maintenance obligation. Up to now, the maintenance advance has been authorised by individual administrative acts. In future, it will be granted as a permanent administrative act. This means that the benefit will generally be granted without the need to submit a new application and without the need to issue a decision on an ongoing basis as long as the eligibility requirements are met, but no longer than until the child reaches the age of 18. This eliminates the need for repeated applications and time-consuming administrative checks.
The switch to the permanent administrative act increases planning security and considerably reduces the workload for families and the administration. The Youth Welfare Office is thus taking a further step towards a citizen-friendly and modern administration.
The authorised parties only need to notify the Youth Welfare Office immediately of any changes in their personal circumstances (e.g. changes in income, resumption of maintenance payments or change of accommodation for the child, etc.). The youth welfare office will check these changes and adjust the permanent administrative act if necessary.
Advance maintenance payments can be applied for online in the service portal at www.chemnitz.de/unterhaltsvorschuss.
In order to communicate changes and important information about the maintenance advance in a transparent and timely manner, the Youth Welfare Office will increasingly rely on digital channels in future. Current information will be published on the city's website at www.chemnitz.de/informationen-unterhaltsvorschuss as well as via the FamilienApp Chemnitz and other social media.
