New rates of maintenance and child benefit will come into force on 1 January 2026. The statutory minimum maintenance for underage children will be increased by 4 euros in all age groups. At the same time, child benefit will increase from 255 euros to 259 euros per child per month from 2026.
This will not result in an increase in the maintenance advance, according to the Youth Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz. As child benefit will be fully offset against the maintenance advance, the two effects will cancel each other out.
This means that the same monthly maintenance advance amounts will continue to apply in all age groups in the coming year as in 2025:
| Age group of the child | Maintenance advance 2025/2026 |
|---|---|
| 0 to 5 years | 227 euros per month |
| 6 to 11 years | 299 euros per month |
| 12 to 17 years | 394 euros per month |
The known amounts will continue to be paid unchanged. Existing benefits will continue without further application. New applications will also be calculated according to the above rates.
