In keeping with the respective seasonal theme, this event invites you to calm down, find your inner centre and activate your own sources of strength with both calm and lively circle dances, physical exercises and short free dance sequences. The beneficial effect of symbolism, gestures, rhythm and music can have a healing and energising effect on body and soul. The energies of the respective season and the cyclical circle of life can be sensed and experienced with impulses on the theme of the season. The major themes of life such as becoming new, growing, unfolding and letting go are echoed again and again in a variety of ways.

Resilience is the ability to regulate oneself under stress and in difficult life situations. Resilience helps you to find your own centre, clear your head and become capable of acting. Resilience is characterised by inner clarity and an energetic body.
In this course, you will learn the basics and essential connections that promote resilience. And you will learn to recognise positive signals from the body and signs of excessive demands so that you can respond to them. The focus is on self-regulation, self-awareness, your own resources and oscillating between different modes in order to regain balance.

50 years ago, the methods of artificial intelligence (AI) were inspired by neuroscience. Today, the question arises as to whether brain research can once again provide inspiration for the next generation of AI. After all, human brains are unrivalled in their energy efficiency and learning ability.
The latest methods of network analysis in the brain ("connectomics") will be used to determine the special features of the biological computer in our heads, understand learning rules and describe possible changes in the context of diseases.

Germany has been reunited for over 35 years, but the walls in people's minds are far from being dismantled. The gap between East and West seems wider than ever. Nora Zabel addresses precisely these issues in her book "Vereint in Zerrissenheit. The East German Generation Z between two worlds", which was published in October 2025. She describes the hopes, wishes and fears of her generation, which is characterised by both the GDR past and the dynamic interrelationship between East and West. In dialogue with companions from East and West Germany, Nora Zabel traces the causes and backgrounds.

Rent, telephone costs, insurance, staff costs, expenditure on projects - the work of an organisation costs money. Membership fees alone are usually not enough to cover all costs. This is where funding can help. But what funding programmes and donors are there? The event provides a brief overview of the funding landscape in Germany and gives tips for acquiring funding.
This event is a co-operation between the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.

vhs-Klimatreff: "FairTrade Town Chemnitz - what does that mean?"

Fairtrade Towns specifically promote fair trade at municipal level and are the result of a successful network of people from civil society, politics and business who are committed to fair trade in their local area. The designation "FairTrade Town Chemnitz" is a title awarded by the responsible certification body, in this case Fairtrade Germany, which has to be defended again and again. On this evening, members of the Chemnitz steering group will explain the background, report specifically on the situation in Chemnitz and answer questions.
Once a month, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre organises a climate meeting under the motto "Sustainability connects". The format provides a framework for all Chemnitz residents who want to learn more about climate protection and sustainability and stay up to date. The aim of the Stammtisch is to build a climate-conscious community in Chemnitz that offers the opportunity for networking, regular dialogue and discussion of current issues affecting Chemnitz and the region. Together, ways are to be found to get involved in a climate-friendly Chemnitz.

In her fictional novel based on a young woman from Karl-Marx-Stadt, author Sonja M. Schultz describes the rebellion of young people against the GDR regime: Eisenwerda, 1982. Jo is fourteen and becomes a punk. She forms a band, falls in love with Ratte, who plays the drums at breakneck speed, and spends her nights pogo dancing in the pressurised air shed. But the authorities feel threatened by this freedom. Jo is soon targeted by the Stasi.
We invite you to talk to the author about the experiences of young people and about punk in the GDR.
