34th Great Mountain Parade on Saturday, 1 December from 2 pm in Chemnitz city centre

Visitors to the traditional event should also note the temporary traffic restrictions

Chemnitz residents and visitors to the city who do not want to miss this year's Great Mining Parade, which is traditionally held in Chemnitz city centre on the Saturday before the 1st Advent, and who also want to drive into the city centre for the event, please bear in mind that the staging of this major event also requires temporary restrictions in the city centre traffic area. After all, 650 miners and smelters from 29 associations as well as 250 musicians and singers from seven mining and smelting bands will be present with their impressive procession through Chemnitz city centre.

The traffic authorities of the city of Chemnitz therefore ask for your understanding and attention to the temporary traffic restrictions on Saturday, 1 December 2012 from 1 pm to 4 pm. The entire parade route will be operationally closed and reopened by the police enforcement service of the Chemnitz-Erzgebirge police headquarters. Road users should also note that all parking areas on the parade route must be closed from 9 a.m. for safety reasons - please refer to the attached file for information on the parade route and parking facilities.

The parade route can be bypassed via Bahnhofstraße - Theaterstraße - Mühlenstraße - Georgstraße. Visitors to the event and the city centre should also make use of public transport(www.cvag.de).

About the route: The mountain parade - for information see www.chemnitz.de - starts at 2 p.m. on the theatre square - where the participants gather beforehand from 1 p.m., leads across Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse to the right into Richard-Tauber-Strasse, continues to the right on the city lane of the Straße der Nationen, then turns right into Brückenstrasse and continues to Theaterstrasse and from here back across Brückenstrasse to Brückenstrasse.It then turns right into Brückenstraße and continues to Theaterstraße and from here back along Brückenstraße to the forecourt of the Stadthalle. The participants in the mining parade arrive here at around 2.30 pm: the choir, mining bands and miners and smelters form up for the final ceremony. At 2.45 p.m., the traditional report is made by the mining officer to the Mayor of the City of Chemnitz, who welcomes the mining brotherhoods. The 34th Great Ore Mountain Parade ends with a final concert.
