30 years of German unity in Chemnitz: programme and activities
October marks the 30th anniversary of German reunification. This year, the central celebrations of unity will take place in Potsdam. Chemnitz takes a regional look at the events from 1989 to 1990 and, in addition to formats organised by the City of Chemnitz, there are other programmes by actors in the city. From a hat festival and public talks to lectures and exhibitions - various formats are dedicated to the anniversary:
PANEL DISCUSSION
Round table discussion with contemporary witnesses

Christoph Magirius and Hartwig Albiro are contemporary witnesses of the years of reunification in 1989 and 1990 and have shaped the peaceful revolution in Chemnitz with their work. Christoph Magirius was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Chemnitz for his services on 3 October 1990. In this interview, they both talk about the events of that time

Hat festival on tour
9 to 11 October 2020
The street art festival is dedicated to the theme of 30 years of unity - 30 years of the Free State of Saxony and brings its programme to up to 20 districts in Chemnitz and 25 locations.
