150 years of the Adelsberg volunteer fire brigade: With commemorative publication and Florians bread, fire brigade fair, technology and demonstration exercise

The anniversary will be celebrated with a big fire brigade festival at the weekend (6 and 7 July) in and around the fire station at Adelsbergstraße 212 Kick-off with a festive event on 5 July, 6 p.m., in the marquee

Following the anniversary of the Glösa Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Chemnitz Florians will be holding another major anniversary celebration over the long weekend from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 July 2013: the Adelsberg Volunteer Fire Brigade is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The celebrations will kick off with a festive event for invited guests on Friday evening (5 July) from 6 p.m. in the marquee at the site of the Adelsberg fire station at Adelsbergstraße 212. Bernd Marschner, Chief Fire Director and Head of the City's Fire Brigade Office, will deliver the greeting from the City of Chemnitz to the festive gathering. To mark the special anniversary, deserving comrades will be honoured and promoted - detailed information can be made available to media representatives on request close to the day of the event.

The programme for the anniversary celebration of the Adelsberg fire brigade on Saturday and Sunday:

On Saturday (6 July) and Sunday (7 July), young and old are cordially invited to join in the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Adelsberg Volunteer Fire Brigade - the meeting point is in and around the FFW equipment shed for the numerous public events. On both days of the festival, you are invited to visit a large exhibition on the history of the volunteer fire brigade in today's Chemnitz district of Adelsberg, which can be viewed in the fire station. Also on site at the festival on Saturday and Sunday are the herb shop and a large fire brigade fair with a craft and play area, bouncy castle, raffle and shooting gallery, carousel and wheel of fortune, as well as a "gastronomic island" inviting visitors to linger and enjoy a bite to eat with many tasty and hearty offerings, including from the barbecue and from the field.from the barbecue and the field kitchen. The commemorative publication published to mark the anniversary of the Adelsberg FFW will also be available on site on both days for a small nominal charge (€1.50).

The programme on Saturday (6.7.): 10 a.m.: Opening of the anniversary fire brigade festival - from 1.15 p.m. and 3.45 p.m.: Children's fashion show and mini playback show by and with pupils from Adelsberg primary school in the marquee - 2 p.m: Large demonstration exercise by the Chemnitz fire brigade and height rescue service - the meeting point for this is at the building at Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 224 - 3.00 pm: Invitation to coffee and cake and to purchase the "150th anniversary gift" from the local fire brigade." baked by the local bakery - 8 pm: Dancing and entertainment with live music ("Gipsy", "Tanzensemble Chemnitz" and "Peppinos") in the marquee - 10.30 pm: Fireworks display.

All-day programme on site on Saturday: Information, presentations and exhibition on the work of the Dresden Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service; DRK exhibition with technology and rescue dog squadron; cycling club exhibition with historical and current machines.

The programme on Sunday (7.7.): 10 a.m.: Church service by the Adelsberg parish - 11:15 a.m.: Performance of the theatre play "Bei der Feuerwehr wird der Kaffee kalt" by children from the EvaLu kindergarten - 1:30 p.m: Lunch from the field kitchen - 2.00 pm: big parade - start is at Adelsbergstraße/Kleinolbersdorfer Straße - 3.00 pm: invitation to coffee and cake - 5.00 pm: festival tombola.

Today, the Adelsberg Volunteer Fire Brigade, led by Dirk Steiner, has 21 men and 3 women in active service, 11 men and women in the old-age department, 14 children and young people in the youth fire brigade and 2 female comrades in training. The new fire station of the Adelsberg fire brigade was inaugurated on 29 September 2001. The modern equipment of the Adelsberg fire brigade includes a Ziegler LF 8/6 fire engine, a crew transport vehicle and a command vehicle for civil defence and disaster control.
