13th neighbourhood festival at Luisenplatz
Under the motto "We bring colour to district life", the 13th district festival on Luisenplatz is being held on Saturday, 13 September from 2 to 8 pm: The festival for the districts of Schloßchemnitz, Kaßberg and Altendorf with 45 information and sales stands and a stage programme is once again being prepared by the "Stadteingang" neighbourhood management and the community centre at Leipziger Straße 39 under the auspices of the Neue Arbeit Chemnitz association.Residents, members of local associations, local organisations, businesses and schools as well as the active members of the Chemnitz Mitte-West citizens' platform are all involved.
Annett Illert, Neighbourhood Manager "City Entrance" at the Civic Centre, Leipziger Straße: "With our family festival at Luisenplatz, we want to publicly present the committed community life in and for the district and further support the topic of civic participation in the Mitte-West area. As in previous years, our neighbourhood festival will once again be a day of encounters with foreign cultures, which are present in the neighbourhood as a multicultural offer and to which we would like to draw attention."
The colourful hands-on programme (flyer) includes games of skill, sports and big games and creative activities (e.g. making loom bands and weaving Rasta braids), pony rides and face painting, a tombola and a wheel of fortune. African wood art and jewellery will be on sale. There will be international flair at the neighbourhood festival with culinary delicacies, as well as tasty grilled food, popcorn and candy floss. The programme on stage includes traditional music and dances from Africa and India, line dancing, live music with a brass band, Mason's one-man band and "Jeneeny & Friends". The break dancers from Haus Kraftwerk, the theatre group from the ad hoc Theatre Chemnitz and young musicians from the Fröhlich Music School will also be performing.
