Zoo voucher for new parents

Press event: First handover on 25 September, 11 a.m., at the entrance to Chemnitz Zoo

On Monday, 25 September at 11 a.m., the staff of the Preventive Work Team at the Youth Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz will present the new zoo voucher as a welcome gift for new parents. They will hand over the first voucher to a Chemnitz family with a newborn baby at the entrance to the zoo in the presence of the head of the Youth Welfare Office, Gunda Georgi, and zoo pedagogue, Jan Klösters.

Media representatives are also cordially invited to attend.

The zoo voucher is now part of the welcome gift that the staff of the Youth Welfare Office present to new parents during their visits. It is an annual pass for one parent, which can be redeemed within three years and enables families to enjoy an eventful time together.

The preventive work team at the youth welfare office consists of four social education workers and is part of the "Early Help and Preventive Child Protection" network in Chemnitz. Since summer 2022, Chemnitz families with newborns have been able to opt for a welcome visit via the combined application "Chemnitz makes it easy". The specialists are on hand to provide families with advice and information, answer questions about health and education, financial benefits and arrange specific services.

So far this year, more than 600 families have been reached and 230 welcome visits have been organised. Counselling sessions on individual and preventative topics relating to babies and parenthood have taken place a total of 970 times this year.
