On Saturday 20 June, from 9 am to 5 pm, Chemnitz Zoo invites you to its big zoo festival. Visitors can look forward to a varied day featuring exciting encounters with animals, fascinating behind-the-scenes insights and a wide range of hands-on activities.
A special highlight of this year’s Zoo Festival is the collaboration with the Saxon state initiative ‘Schulen musizieren’. From 1 pm to 4 pm, the zoo’s festival grounds will be transformed into a musical stage. Various ensembles representing different genres will offer a varied programme, creating a special atmosphere that blends the animal world with music.
In addition, numerous activities will provide interesting facts about the zoo’s animals and the daily work of the keepers. Hands-on activities for all age groups focus on trying things out, learning and marvelling.
Additional programme highlights are organised by the zoo’s dedicated partners: these include Chemnitz City Library, the smac – State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz, the Wolfsscheune Rietzschen and the Förderverein Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e. V. They enrich the festival programme with creative hands-on activities.
In addition to the regular guided feedings and activities, the following special programme items are planned:

| 1.30 pm | Fluffy companions: Alpaca walk (Meeting point: Alpaca barn) |
| 3.30 pm | Animal keeper talk: Flamingos (Meeting point: Flamingo enclosure) |
| 5 pm | Animal enrichment for the geladas (Meeting point: Gelada enclosure) |
