Youth welfare committee decides on grants for construction measures in various facilities run by recognised independent organisations
Yesterday, the Youth Welfare Committee approved financial grants for five construction measures that recognised independent youth welfare organisations want to implement this year. The decisions are still subject to the approval of the municipal budget for this year by the Saxony State Directorate.
Hohe Straße 6b daycare centre to receive new heating, ventilation and sanitary facilities as well as a renewal of the electrics, extension and access routes
Kindervereinigung Chemnitz e. V. will receive a financial contribution of 271,000 euros for the renovation of the heating/ventilation/sanitary facilities, electrics, extension and access routes in the Hohe Straße 6b daycare centre.
In accordance with the current daycare centre requirements plan, the facility will remain a daycare centre in the long term. Despite the partial refurbishments in the past, there is a backlog of refurbishment work, especially in the building services. Due to current utilisation and safety requirements, it is necessary to renew the heating and electrical systems. The flooring and doors will be renewed and painting and tiling work will be carried out. In addition, ventilation technology will be installed in the kitchen as well as in other functional areas. Kindervereinigung Chemnitz e. V. is the client for this project.
Day care centre in Usti nad Labem Street 299/301 receives refurbishment of the heating and building services
Furthermore, the Sächsische Sozialakademie gGmbH will receive a financial contribution of 80,000 euros for the second construction phase of the refurbishment of the heating and building services.
According to the requirements plan, this facility will also remain a day care centre in the long term. In the medium term, it will be necessary to replace the heating system and carry out related finishing work (flooring, doors, painting and tiling). At the same time, ventilation measures are required in the kitchen and other functional areas. The drinking water distribution system will also be renewed. In the course of the second construction phase, the sanitary and functional rooms in the basement and on the ground floor will be refurbished. The Sächsische Sozialakademie gGmbH is the client for this construction project.
Parts of the building at the Flemmingstraße 97 children's and youth emergency centre are being renovated and converted
Arbeiterwohlfahrt Kreisverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. is receiving a financial contribution of 170,000 euros for the remodelling and renovation of parts of the building at Flemmingstraße 97.
Since 2002, the property has been operated by the AWO Kreisverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e. V. as an emergency service for children and young people. The building is worthy of preservation and has already been renovated. Due to the current need, the creation of a new, extended care area for unaccompanied refugee minors is being considered in this facility
As part of the renovation, the entire heating system needs to be refurbished in order to fulfil current technical and energy requirements. In addition, the sanitary facilities in this part of the building will be renovated.
Building at Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2 is being completely refurbished
Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e. V. Chemnitz will also receive a financial grant totalling 230,614 euros for the complete renovation of Liddy-Eberberger-Straße 2.
The building houses an after-school care centre, rooms for social group work, a youth leisure facility and a creative centre. According to the daycare centre requirements plan, this facility will also be retained in the long term. The property is part of the refurbishment concept for Chemnitz daycare centres.
The complete refurbishment of the old building includes, among other things, draining the crawl space and exterior walls inside and out, renewing the floors, refurbishing the façade and replacing all windows and exterior doors. In addition, a thermal insulation composite system will be installed, all interior doors will be replaced, the roof will be both renovated and insulated and the roof covering will be renewed. Furthermore, all sanitary facilities are to be renovated, reorganised and adapted. A local ventilation system and a new heating distribution system will be installed in the building. The electrical distribution boards and electrical systems will also be renewed. In the course of the refurbishment, band protection, safety, thermal and sound insulation requirements will be taken into account. In addition to the complete refurbishment of the old building, the outdoor facilities will also be completely overhauled. KJF e.V. is the client for the refurbishment.
New day-care centre after complete refurbishment at Sonnenstraße 42
The youth welfare committee has decided to hand over the property at Sonnenstraße 42 to the Caritasverband für Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. for complete refurbishment and subsequent operation of a day care centre.
The association operates a day care centre with 26 places for children aged from one year to school age in the property at Pestalozzistraße 33. Following the Caritas Association's application to expand capacity by 46 places, which was approved by the city council in 2013, it agreed to take over Sonnenstrasse 42 and the associated assumption of the building ownership for the complete refurbishment.
Following the complete refurbishment, the facility will be operated as an independent integrative daycare centre with a capacity of 72 places for children from one year old until they start school from 2017. Caritasverband für Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. will then be the tenant of the property at Sonnenstraße 42.
