Youth welfare committee approves municipal grant for second construction phase for the refurbishment of the daycare centre Am Harthwald 128/130
At its meeting yesterday, the Youth Welfare Committee approved a further financial contribution of 206,351 euros from the City of Chemnitz to the organisation Arbeiterwohlfahrt Kreisverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e. V. for the complete refurbishment of the Am Harthwald 128/130 day care centre. With its vote on the draft resolution B-065/2013 submitted by the administration, the committee has cleared the way for the second construction phase of the complete refurbishment of the daycare centre, which is now scheduled to begin in April.
In addition to the roof and façade refurbishment that has already been completed, the centre has already received new windows, a sun protection system, new emergency stairs and a redesigned conservatory in the first construction phase. The elt, heating, ventilation and sanitary systems will now be renewed and the outdoor area completed.
The City of Chemnitz is funding the complete refurbishment of the Am Hartwald 128/130 daycare centre from the planning phase in 2011 through to completion with a total of 1,550,518 euros. In addition to the municipal funding, the daycare centre also has access to state and federal funding.
During the renovation work, some of the children at the Am Hartwald daycare centre have temporarily moved into the Johannes-Dick-Straße 55 daycare centre; the after-school children attend the after-school facilities at their respective schools during the renovation work.
