Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Municipal Music School travels to Dublin

The Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will be a guest at Luttrellstown Community College (L.C.C.) in Dublin from 1 to 6 May 2016 as part of a student exchange project. The highlight of the trip will be a concert by the youth symphony orchestra on 4 May 2016 at 7 pm. Under the direction of Andreas Grohmann, the Chemnitz musicians will present works by Tchaikovsky, Respighi, Lyadov and Bartók in the L.C.C. concert hall and thank their Irish hosts for the invitation.

Just last December, students from the L.C.C. spent some wonderful days in Chemnitz. They visited highlights, got to know Saxony and were bid farewell with a concert at the music school. A short time later, the Chemnitz hosts received a warm invitation to visit Dublin in May 2016.

Teachers and students of the L.C.C. have planned a particularly interesting programme for their Chemnitz guests' stay in Dublin. In addition to the daily orchestra rehearsals, the programme includes a city tour of Dublin, a tour of Park Phoenix, one of the world's largest inner-city parks, and a visit to the Glendalough monastery settlement.

The student exchange is organised in cooperation with the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium and is financially supported by the Förderverein der Städtischen Musikschule.
