Youth fire brigade of the FFW Siegmar qualifies with 1st place in the state competition for participation in the national competition

Congratulations to the members of the youth fire brigade of the Chemnitz-Siegmar volunteer fire brigade (photo): They successfully won their "ticket" to take part in the national competition at the 11th state competition for youth fire brigades from all over Saxony in Mühlbach in the eastern Ore Mountains. Ten teams from youth fire brigades from the Free State met from 28 to 30 June for the biennial performance comparison. The young firefighters from Siegmar, who have also participated purposefully and successfully in the state competition in previous years, took first place this time and are therefore state champions. According to Markus Georgi, acting youth fire brigade officer of the Chemnitz city youth fire brigade, this is the third time that the girls and boys have qualified to take part in the national competition after 1999 and 2009.

The German championship will be held in conjunction with the German Youth Fire Brigade Day from 5 to 8 September 2013 in Stadthagen, Lower Saxony.

The national competition is organised in three parts: This includes a type of fire-fighting attack with an obstacle course - where, for example This includes a type of fire-fighting attack with an obstacle course - where, for example, knots have to be tied correctly within a time limit - and a 400-metre relay race - where, once again, typical fire brigade tasks such as rolling hoses, putting on equipment and throwing line bags have to be completed within a time limit. The third task is a creative part, in which the young people present their work in the youth fire brigade with singing and acting - and thus, according to the city youth fire brigade warden, also design their own evening programme during the competition.
