Your city - your opinion: Chemnitz youth ideas survey online!

The Netzwerk für Kultur und Jugendarbeit e.V. invites teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 27 to take part in a youth survey about the city of Chemnitz. This project is a cooperation between the City of Chemnitz's Children and Youth Commissioner, the City of Chemnitz's Crime Prevention Council and the Netzwerk für Kultur und Jugendarbeit e.V. Other cooperation partners in the project are the Chemnitz citizens' platforms and community coordinators as well as neighbourhood managers. Together, they want to strengthen youth democracy.

As part of the "Jugend voran" ("Youth forwards") project of the Netzwerk für Kultur- und Jugendarbeit e. V. ("Network for Cultural and Youth Work"), a youth ideas survey was conducted for the target group of 14 to 27-year-olds and young adults. The aim of the survey is not to lose touch with young people despite the coronavirus pandemic and to get them talking about their city even when contact restrictions are in place:
"Which neighbourhood do you feel you particularly belong to? What are your favourite places? Where do you generally feel uncomfortable in Chemnitz and why? Which offer for young people do you particularly miss?" Chemnitz teenagers and young adults can answer these and other questions online at http://www.bald-gehts-ab.de/umfrage.html until 28 May.

Participation is free of charge and attractive prizes await the participants. The survey is intended to provide insights into the identity and affiliation of young people and young adults to Chemnitz through their (critical) examination of their hometown. The results, wishes and suggestions gained from the survey will be used for the work in Chemnitz's neighbourhoods and, ideally, to launch their own projects by and for young people.

The "Jugend voran" project, funded by Aktion Mensch, aims to promote youth participation at neighbourhood level in Chemnitz, strengthen structures and consolidate the commitment of young people. Youth idea conferences have already been organised for this purpose in the past.

The association Netzwerk für Kultur- und Jugendarbeit e. V. is a voluntary association of predominantly non-profit organisations, associations and initiatives in Chemnitz. It acts on the basis of democratic decisions and open and transparent working structures. The association thrives on the active participation of its more than 70 members. Its aims include the promotion and support of art and culture, socio-culture, democratic civil society and youth welfare.
