Children and young people up to the age of 20 can now submit their projects for the Chemnitz Environment Prize. In 2027, the City of Chemnitz is once again looking for creative ideas and committed young people who are dedicated to protecting the environment. Anyone who lives in Chemnitz, attends a nursery, school or other children’s or youth facility in Chemnitz, or is a member of a Chemnitz-based club is eligible to take part. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2027.
Whether it’s litter-picking campaigns, designing nature-friendly school playgrounds, protecting animals and plants, or creative ideas for climate protection – there are no limits to the imagination when it comes to the Chemnitz Environment Prize. We are looking for projects that demonstrate how children and young people are actively helping to shape their environment and contributing to a sustainable future. Entries may be submitted either individually or as a group.
Carina Kühnel, Head of the Environment Department at Chemnitz City Council: “Children and young people often have a unique perspective on their environment and develop creative solutions to the challenges of our time. With the Chemnitz Environment Prize, we want to highlight and recognise this commitment, and encourage young people to put their ideas into practice.”
Projects should preferably be submitted via the online form. Alternatively, a form is available to download and complete. Both forms, as well as further information about the competition, can be found at www.chemnitz.de/umweltpreis.
Anyone still looking for inspiration for their own project can find ideas in the online exhibition. The diverse range of ideas and projects from the previous competition round are showcased there: www.chemnitz.de/umweltpreisausstellung.
