Young Nature Guards project to be continued in Chemnitz
The Young Nature Guards Saxony project will continue in Chemnitz in 2022. The Free State of Saxony is once again providing financial support for the programme this year.
This year, the Environmental Agency of the City of Chemnitz has entrusted the implementation of the programme to the Chemnitz regional group of the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND), Landesverband Sachsen e.V., as a cooperation partner. In future, two BUND employees will supervise the working group and organise further events. The event schedule is currently being finalised. As before, the contact point is the nature conservation centre.
Since the end of 2019, the city of Chemnitz has been participating in the "Young Nature Guards Saxony" programme, which aims to recruit young people into nature conservation. The aim is to get children and young people interested in nature conservation and train them to become young and old "experts".
The "Young Nature Guards Chemnitz" are based at the Chemnitz Nature Conservation Centre, Adelsbergstraße 192. Last year, events organised by the already established "Chemnitz Nature Explorers" working group took place as far as the coronavirus regulations allowed. In addition, various hands-on activities and other public events were organised on the subject of the environment and nature.
Interested children and young people who are not yet active in the working group are welcome to contact the Environmental Agency, Lower Nature Conservation Authority, by e-mail at umweltamt.naturschutz(at)stadt-chemnitz.de or by telephone on 488-3602 or -3603.
