Young musical talents from Chemnitz honoured
The City of Chemnitz today welcomed the pupils of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, who took part in the national "Jugend musiziert" competition in Erlangen with great success, to the Ratskeller (PM 379 from 17 June 2013).
The eleven young musicians, nine of whom won prizes in the demanding competition at national level, met with Mayor Barbara Ludwig and the head of the municipal music school, Nancy Gibson. Also present were the music school teachers, whose dedicated work contributed to the outstanding results of the competition participants.
Headmistress Nancy Gibson is delighted with her students: "To achieve so many outstanding placings in such a highly competitive and demanding competition, as our Chemnitz students have once again done, is an extraordinary achievement for which I would like to congratulate all participants."
Mayor Barbara Ludwig also had words of appreciation, saying that she was particularly pleased that after last year's success at "Jugend musiziert", the people of Chemnitz have once again done their city proud this year: "Together with you, your parents and teachers, I am delighted that you have been given the high recognition for your extraordinary musical ability, which you have earned with perseverance and a great deal of hard work."
To sweeten their success a little, the competition participants received Chemnitz chocolate, among other things, and after the round of talks, they were able to enjoy the view over the whole of Chemnitz from the town hall tower together with tower keeper Stefan Weber.
