Young ideas at the KOSMOS

Mobile exhibition in the intervention area bus

On Saturday, 8 June, the KOSMOS Festival will once again attract visitors to the city. More than 150 programme items from music, society, art, business and sport will be offered around the Schloßteich and Konkordiapark. The coordinator for child and youth participation for the city of Chemnitz, Katrin Günther, will also be on site and will present the results of the latest youth meeting using a graphic recording wall. At the same time, the young guests of the festival are invited to contribute further ideas for the future of Chemnitz. We are also still looking for interested young people who would like to help organise the youth conference, which will take place in Chemnitz on 20 September together with the Bertelsmann Stiftung.

The youth area will be located on Promenadenstraße, not far from the gondola station, from 4 to 9 pm. In the immediate vicinity, the Capital of Culture project create:U will be offering a craft and make-up corner, a photo point and a popcorn machine, as well as discussing with young people how they imagine their 2025 youth festival. Spinnerei e. V. and the Fabmobil will also be there to present the "Young Capital of Culture" programme. The Fabmobil, the double-decker bus equipped with digital technology and machines, offers children and young people the opportunity to try out creative technologies. They can have table tennis paddles laser-cut and try them out directly on several boards. A pop-up panel talk with Julia Korbig and Sonja Eismann from Missy magazine will also take place in collaboration with Kulturhaus Arthur.

If you just want to relax, you can use one of the many deckchairs in the youth area by the castle pond. The complete programme can be found here.

The Intervention Areas, the city of Chemnitz's urban development project for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, will also be represented at KOSMOS. The Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG garage campus bus will be converted into a mobile exhibition space and will be located on the corner of Georgstraße and Promenadenstraße. Interested parties can get an overview of the 30 intervention areas from 12 noon to 7 pm. Representatives from the City of Chemnitz building department will be on hand to answer questions about the planning and construction progress.
