Young Chemnitz music student successful in Altenburg
Congratulations on winning 1st prize: Six-year-old Chemnitz music student Ben Lepetit (photo) was the youngest participant to win 1st prize in the piano category, age group A to ten years, at the "Johann Ludwig Krebs" piano and organ competition in Altenburg. The young pianist was also the youngest of all competition participants to receive the highest jury rating.
Ben Lepetit is a piano student of Michael Fröhlich at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
The competition was organised in the ballroom of the Altenburg Residential Palace to mark the 300th birthday of Johann Ludwig Krebs, a pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach and namesake of the competition, which was held in one of Krebs' former places of work. 29 pianists took part in the competition in Altenburg. The jury and competition were led by Altenburg Castle organist Felix Friedrich, who is Krebs' successor at the Trost organ and is considered a specialist in the life and work of the composer.
