Young career starters from Catalonia discover opportunities in Chemnitz

Invitation to the photo session: 17 April, 9.30 a.m., Chemnitz City Hall, Grüner Salon

On Wednesday, 17 April at 9.30 a.m. in Chemnitz City Hall, Grüner Salon, the EU Coordinator of the City of Chemnitz, Pia Sachs, will welcome eight young men and women from Catalonia who are aiming to gain their first professional experience in Chemnitz to complement their training. This is made possible by the EU project "Come on, Let's Europe!", which is financed by Spain's European Social Fund. The partner in Chemnitz is the solaris Förderzentrum für Jugend und Umwelt gGmbH Sachsen. They will also improve their social, language and intercultural skills through internships.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.

The young professionals currently living in Catalonia have different cultural backgrounds and roots from countries such as Peru, Russia, Morocco and Romania. The participants' professional interests also lie in different industries and sectors: from a Master's degree in molecular biology/biomedicine, to a teaching degree with a focus on mathematics, chemistry and physics, to specialisations in the IT and design industries and hairdressing.

The various internship companies in Chemnitz also correspond to the broad spectrum: the Agricola-Gymnasium, BiFlow Systems, Chemedia, the Chemnitz Institute of Mechanical and Plant Engineering and the Gentlemen's Barbershop.

The aim of the visit to Chemnitz City Hall is not only to take a tour, but also to learn about the work of the city of Chemnitz in the EU/European context and provide information about the city and its history.

Ultimately, the intention of the project is also to convey the diversity of professional development opportunities in Chemnitz and to emphasise the city as an attractive and open place for international career starters.
