Writing competition enters the second round
"Your Chemnitz. Your fairy tale": New contributions wanted
After the great response to last year's premiere, the city of Chemnitz is once again launching a writing competition under the motto "Your Chemnitz. Your fairy tale". We are looking for exciting, funny and profound stories from the city. It is important that the fairy tale has a direct connection to the city of Chemnitz. The closing date for entries is 12 May 2022.
The first Chemnitz fairy tale book "Benno and the Keeper of the Riddle", which has been available in bookshops since December 2021, features brave children, curious insects and funny dwarves. 70 fairy tale texts were submitted to this first writing competition. Many fairy tales have not yet been told. That is why the city of Chemnitz will publish the second Chemnitz fairy tale book this year.
This writing competition is open to all natural persons who have reached the age of 18 at the time of entry and who live, work or are members of a cultural institution in Chemnitz (e.g. library, music school).
An independent jury will select three winning texts, which will then be published. The winner will receive prize money of 500 euros, while second and third place will receive 300 and 200 euros respectively. The fairy tale should be aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 12 and should not be longer than 20,000 characters.
More information about the writing competition, the conditions of participation and the declaration of independence are available here. The declaration of independence can also be collected from reception at the town hall.
