World Refugee Day 2021
Rally and exhibition on the situation of refugees in Chemnitz and at the European external borders - on 20 June 2021 from 2 to 5 pm at Neumarkt
To mark World Refugee Day, the City of Chemnitz Migration Commissioner and the organisers are inviting people to a rally and informative exhibition at Chemnitz Neumarkt on Sunday, 20 June from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to once again draw attention to the difficult situation of refugees at Europe's external borders and here in Chemnitz. Participants will express their solidarity with refugees and draw attention to those who are particularly vulnerable during the pandemic.
Information about organisations active in refugee protection in Chemnitz, testimonials and statements from refugees and demands to the city of Chemnitz, the federal government and the EU will be presented at Neumarkt. A rubber dinghy will be used to collect photos of objects that refugees had with them during their flight in order to illustrate their precarious situation.
Anyone who would like to get involved is invited to send photos, personal experiences, statements or demands to the organising team at wft_chemnitz(at)lists.riseup.net or migrationsbeauftragte(at)stadt-chemnitz.de in the run-up to the rally and to be there in person on 20 June.

World Refugee Day has been celebrated every year on 20 June since 2001. Millions of people are forced to leave their homes. On this day, the strength, courage and resilience that refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless people show on a daily basis are recognised in particular and it is remembered that around 80 million people worldwide are on the run.
