Working discussion between the State Directorate and the City of Chemnitz on the initial reception centre
The dialogue process initiated by the State Directorate of Saxony with residents from the area surrounding the Free State's initial reception facility in Chemnitz was discussed today at the Lord Mayor's table by the State Directorate of Saxony and the City of Chemnitz on how to proceed.
"Our basic concern in the process is to take the justified worries and concerns of citizens seriously and to help wherever possible," said Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig. The aim is to enable residents and asylum seekers to live together.
So far, there have been two consultations on the procedure with residents who have submitted a petition, and more will take place every month. Frank Richter, Director of the Saxon State Centre for Political Education, is moderating this process. In the first meetings, various problems of the petitioners were discussed on site and a catalogue of questions was drawn up, which will be passed on to the responsible authorities and institutions.
Initial proposals for solutions are to be discussed with the petitioners at the beginning of December. It is planned to present the results of the clarification process to all affected residents at an information event in the near future.
