Wooden art by "exponaRt" in the exhibition room of the town hall

An exhibition of avant-garde wood art by the artist group "exponaRt" will be opened on Monday, 6 October at 4 pm in the exhibition room of Chemnitz Town Hall at Markt 1 by Katrin Voigt, Head of the Cultural Office. The vernissage will be accompanied by a concert by three music students from the municipal music school.

Citizens and representatives of the media are cordially invited to the opening.

The "exponaRt" group has been in existence for twelve years and maintains contacts with fellow artists throughout Europe. The work on joint projects is also reflected in a variety of designs in public spaces: these include, for example, the miners' nativity scene in the mountain church of St Marien in Annaberg-Buchholz with almost 30 figures, the approx. 40 sculptures in the Park of the Senses in the Zinnowitz spa or the twelve depictions of personalities from the town of Aue on the Aue History Trail. An exhibition on the theme of the Reformation anniversary entitled "WortGESCHICHTE(n)" is currently on display at various locations along the Luther Trail. Until 2017, the artists will be providing insights into their very personal perspectives on the Reformation and showing that this theme can be interpreted in a very contemporary and modern way.

For this special exhibition project, the city of Chemnitz is making the exhibition space in the town hall at Markt 1 available to the "exponaRt" group. The exhibition in Chemnitz town hall can be viewed during the opening hours of the town hall until 9 January 2015, Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm, Fridays from 8 am to 4 pm.
