Wolgograder Allee between the roundabouts at Chemnitzer Straße and Arno-Schreiter-Straße is once again open to two lanes of traffic
From next Monday, 16 October, Wolgograder Allee between the Arno-Schreiter-Straße and Chemnitzer Straße roundabouts will once again be open to two lanes of traffic. This means that the section, which has only been one-way since the end of February, will be completed six weeks earlier than originally planned.
The company HSE Bau GmbH Glauchau has reduced the approx. 450 m long stretch between the roundabouts from the previous four lanes to two lanes, built two bus stops and a pedestrian traffic light and widened the junction with Max-Müller-Straße over a length of approx. 40 metres. Two crossing islands over Wolgograder Allee were also installed in this area. Cycle lanes 1.85 metres wide were marked on both sides of the carriageway.
The complete renewal of this road section will optimise traffic flow and adapt the road cross-section to the existing traffic volume. As a result, approx. 1,900 m² of traffic area was unsealed and greened.
By the end of October, a semi-rigid surface will be laid in the landward bus stop area on Arno-Schreiter-Straße.
The construction costs amount to approx. 800,000 euros. The measure received 50 per cent funding from the Free State of Saxony.
