Wittgensdorfer Straße: continuation of the basic expansion from 10 April 2013 City of Chemnitz invests 1.25 million euros

On behalf of the City of Chemnitz, the city's waste disposal company and utility company eins Energie in Sachsen, 780 metres of drainage channels, street lighting and the road structure will be renewed. In addition to the 6.5 to 7 metre wide carriageway, the available space will be extended with footpaths on both sides and, where space is available, with parking lanes. Four new bus stops will also be built as part of the second construction phase.
The company Chemnitzer Verkehrsbau GmbH was commissioned with the realisation of this extensive construction project.
The total costs amount to 1.75 million euros. The share of the construction sum invested by the City of Chemnitz is 1.25 million euros.
Information from the traffic authority: Road users are asked for their understanding and attention that - as already announced in the city's construction site information on 3 April - a full road closure will be necessary to carry out the construction work in the section from house number 35 to Burgstädter Straße. This full closure will be in place from Wednesday, 10 April. A diversion will be in place via Bornaer Straße and Leipziger Straße and signposted accordingly, as was already the case in the first construction phase of the fundamental expansion of Wittgensdorfer Straße.
In the section between Burgstädter Straße and Leipziger Straße, the work will be carried out with half-side closures.
A temporary turning loop will be set up for CVAG bus route 46 in the area of the junction at the edge of the forest, which will be served from and in the direction of Leipziger Straße.
