Wittgensdorfer Straße carriageway renewal between Auerswalder Straße and Paul-Fischer-Weg

On Monday, 4 July 2016, the construction work for the renewal of the Wittgensdorfer Straße carriageway will begin with preparatory work for the construction of a temporary bus turning point between Paul-Fischer-Weg and Horst-Vieth-Weg under half-sided road closure with traffic light control. The drinking water, gas and sewage systems will also be renewed.

Access roads to the primary school and the Gnadenkirche church will be created for the duration of the construction work. From Thursday, 14 July 2016, Wittgensdorfer Straße will be fully closed between Auerswalder Straße and the access road to Borna primary school. Pedestrian connections, including the necessary road crossings, will be maintained. Vehicles will not be able to drive through. Pupils can reach the school safely on foot from both directions of Wittgensdorfer Straße. Pupils will be able to board and alight at suitable points on both sides of the road closure in compliance with road traffic regulations.

The bus route runs from the direction of Wittgensdorf to the temporary turning point and along Bornaer Straße. The diversion will be via Untere Hauptstraße, Chemnitztalstraße and Bornaer Straße. Access for residents will only be possible under roadworks conditions. Supply and disposal services as well as access for the emergency services are guaranteed.

The full closure of this section will be lifted on Friday, 9 December 2016 (winter break). Construction of the remaining section between the access road to the primary school and Paul-Fischer-Weg is expected to begin in March 2017 and will continue as planned until Friday, 4 August 2017.

The entire road construction project will cost around 480,000 euros. The company ATS Chemnitz GmbH has been commissioned to carry out the work.
