Witamy! - Welcome to the Polish theme weeks

Adult education centre: Opening evening on 11 March, 6 p.m., VHS gallery in the TIETZ, 4th floor

On Monday, 11 March, from 6 to 8.15 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to the opening of the "Poland" series. Admission is free and registration is not required.

At the beginning of the evening, Polish folk dances will be performed by the Zwickau group "Tanzvolk". Another item on the programme is the opening of two exhibitions by the German Poland Institute: the caricature show "Poland laughs at this. A regional history in caricatures and texts" and the exhibition "Gol! Poland's football writes stories", which focuses on the Polish national team of the 1970s.

Coach Kazimierz Górski's team won Olympic gold in 1972 and two years later took bronze at the World Cup. The introductory lecture to the football exhibition will be given by Dr Matthias Kneip, whose father Hans Kneip worked as an interpreter for the Polish national team.

In addition to Polish music and culinary offerings, there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and engage in dialogue.

The almost three-week series of events from 11 to 27 March is the first country special for the adult education centre's annual theme "Focus: Europe". The neighbouring country of Poland will be explored in various formats such as language courses, cooking evenings, lectures and discussions as well as exhibitions and a film screening.
