Winter holidays at the Museum of Natural History
Project workshop: Petrified forest, petrified world
Imagine if our world were petrified tomorrow! What would future scientists think of us if - like 291 million years ago in Chemnitz - a volcano changed our landscape? Children and young people aged 10 to 16 can explore this question during the project week and realise their ideas creatively with project partner Stadtlabor "Mitmach_X" (Brühl 40, 09111 Chemnitz). The results will be exhibited in the special exhibition "Young Workshop - My Museum of Dreams".Period: 17/18/21 February, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; 20 February, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participation is free of charge. The number of participants is limited to 10.

Hands-on activities for researching and trying things out:
"In the footsteps of Schnappi and Co. " - On a journey to the Chemnitz Petrified Forest, we will follow in the footsteps of Schnappi and Co. You will learn what a fossil is, how it is formed, when the animal or plant lived and how they were discovered in the centre of Chemnitz. A wooden disc decorated with fossil motifs will be made for you to take home.
Dates and information: Tuesdays 11 and 18 February, from 10 to 11.30 am; Thursdays 13 and 20 February, from 2 to 3.30 pm.

"Museum tester - experience prehistoric times" (from 5 years)
Are you interested in the history of the earth? Then let yourself be carried away by exciting games. Explore prehistoric creatures and test stations for our new exhibition. We will design a button with a prehistoric motif to take home.
Dates and information: Friday 14 February, from 10 to 11.30 am.
Admission is free for children and young people under the age of 18. Material costs of 1 euro apply. The number of participants is limited to 20. Please register in advance:
