Winners of the environmental award have been announced

Invitation to the photo session: 10 June, 9.45 a.m., Terra Nova Campus

On Monday, 10 June at 9.45 a.m., the jury of the Chemnitz Environmental Award for Children and Young People will present an award to a winner in the category Grades 5 to 8 at the Terra Nova Campus - Die Entdeckerschule, Heinrich-Schütz-Straße 61.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

A total of 395 children and young people took part in the Environment Agency's environmental education campaign this year. In the final weeks before the summer holidays, the participants in the Chemnitz Environmental Award 2024 for Children and Young People will be honoured for their commitment.

The nine-member jury selected the top three places from 31 submitted projects in the categories of daycare centre, primary school, grades 5 to 8, grades 9 to 12 and young people up to the age of 20.

Carina Kühnel, Head of the Environmental Office of the City of Chemnitz: "Even though the number of participants has fallen compared to the previous year, I am delighted about the increased number of environmental protection projects from our young Chemnitz residents. The mostly practical projects show that the overall social task of environmental protection is also present in the minds of our youngest citizens. I would especially like to thank the initiators, teachers, educators and parents who accompanied their children in the creation of the projects."

The following submissions won one of the top three places this year. There are two first places in the day-care centre category due to a tie.
