WIFI4EU - 15,000 euros for Chemnitz
The city of Chemnitz is receiving 15,000 euros from the EU Commission to set up public Wi-Fi hotspots.
Free Internet access in parks, large squares, public buildings, libraries, health centres and museums throughout Europe - that is the aim of WIFI4EU.
Cities and municipalities were able to apply for vouchers worth 15,000 euros for the installation of WLAN networks. The hotspots are to be set up in places where free WiFi is not yet available. The Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz applied for this programme.
In the fourth call, five Saxon cities, including Chemnitz, will receive this sum from the European Commission. A total of 947 municipalities were selected from over 8,600 applicants.
