Wiesenstraße gets a pavement between Moritzstraße and Annenstraße
From mid-April, Wiesenstraße between Moritzstraße and Annenstraße will have a pavement. This is intended to improve traffic safety, especially for the day care centre located in this section. Preparatory work will begin next week.
The construction of the pavement is planned for the period from 15 April 2013 to 17 May 2013. The pavement will have a standard width of 2.50 metres. It will be built with a total thickness of 35 cm. It will be paved with a 1.10 m wide walkway made of granite slabs with a small paving border. The Wiesenstraße will be realised in two construction phases with half-sided traffic closures. Access for emergency vehicles and neighbours will be ensured. The work should be completed by 17 May 2013.
To create the necessary construction clearance between the Annenstraße junction and the turning hammer at the northern end of the road, seven trees will be felled and a hedge removed in the coming week. According to the tree protection statutes of the City of Chemnitz, the decision to remove and plant trees in listed areas is the responsibility of the monument protection authority. A permit under monument protection law to fell the trees and remove the hedge was issued on 24 October 2012. The felling will be carried out outside the vegetation period.
The company Dietmar Mothes GmbH from Chemnitz was commissioned with the felling and construction work. The construction costs amount to approx. 35,000 euros.
