Who are the people? In search of the people

On Wednesday, 3 May from 7 to 8.30 pm, interested parties are invited to a discussion event with Clemens Kiessling and Julian Nejkow at the adult education centre, course room 4.07. The two well-known East German podcasters want to discuss political life in Chemnitz and Saxony with the participants.

What is it - the "Saxon soul"? And how relevant is "the construct of East Germany"? Political scientists Clemens Kiessling and Julian Nejkow will get to the bottom of these and other questions as hosts of the discussion series "Ein Rest Revolte - die sächsische Seele und ihre neuen Herausforderungen". In this dialogue format, they invite people to get into conversation with each other and talk about life stories and ruptures, personal challenges and opportunities. "We would like to enter into a direct dialogue with citizens in this series," say the hosts. During the two-hour event, they discuss with their guests for 60 minutes, after which the dialogue is opened up to all participants.
Kiessling and Nejkow grew up in Thuringia and Saxony and are known as the hosts of the podcast "Nach meiner Kenntnis sofort". They locate their own style of conversation as a movement between anecdotes, experiences and semi-sharp analyses "to laugh, to cry, to drink beer and to fall in love with the East".
Previous guests in her series have included the Saxon Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping (SPD), the Lord Mayor of Weißwasser Torsten Pötzsch (Klartext) and the District Administrator of Görlitz Stephan Meyer (CDU).
This event is a cooperation between the Saxon State Centre for Political Education and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre as part of the "Controversial on Site" project.
