On Saturday 14 November, from 9 am to 1 pm, secondary schools in Chemnitz will be showcasing themselves. At the 16th Chemnitz Education Fair in Hall 2 of the exhibition centre, Messeplatz 1, Year 4 pupils and their parents can get an overview of the school system in Chemnitz.
Admission is free. Parking at the exhibition centre is also free. Childcare is available for younger siblings.
Which secondary school is right for my child? What are the key educational focuses? Where are special support programmes, foreign languages or all-day programmes offered? Families with Year 4 pupils who are about to move on to secondary school can find answers to these and many other questions at the Education Fair.
Numerous secondary schools and grammar schools from the city of Chemnitz will be presenting themselves at the event. Independently run schools will also be represented. At the individual exhibition stands, families can find out about school profiles, educational approaches, foreign language programmes, all-day programmes, extracurricular clubs and opportunities for individual support. Teachers and pupils from the participating schools will be available for personal discussions and will provide insights into everyday school life at their respective schools.
In addition, the Chemnitz City Education Authority and the State Office for Schools and Education, Chemnitz branch, will provide information on educational pathways and transition options.
The programme is complemented, amongst other things, by the local vocational school centres and the Chemnitz City Library. Educational pathways following the ‘Realschulabschluss’ (secondary school leaving certificate) will also be presented. At the joint stand run by the vocational school centres, interested visitors can, for example, find out how to obtain the general university entrance qualification at a vocational school centre.
