Wheelchair spaces on CVAG buses
A good idea? A call to test and decide
NOTE: Due to the current weather conditions, the event planned for Wednesday has to be cancelled. It will be rescheduled at a later date to be announced in good time.
Are wheelchair spaces on CVAG buses a good idea? CVAG, the City of Chemnitz and the Disability Advisory Council would like to explore this question together with wheelchair users and their supporters.
Two buses will be available for this purpose on Wednesday, 25 January 2017 from 3.30 pm to around 5 pm at the Werner-Seelenbinder-Straße 13 depot. All interested parties will have the opportunity to test and compare the previous and the new (intended) variant in practice and decide which is the better option. This will then be implemented. The people of Chemnitz are cordially invited and called upon to help decide.
Chemnitz city council and the local transport company are doing a lot to make local public transport attractive and usable for all residents and visitors to the city. To this end, they are in good dialogue with a wide variety of users, but also under the strict regime of legal requirements and technical regulations.
The joint decision to equip new CVAG buses with two spaces for wheelchair users in future was also made in this area of tension. The first bus built according to this idea is already in practical operation. Whether these two spaces can actually be used properly will now be tested and decided together.
This date can also be used to overcome any uncertainties about travelling on a bus in a wheelchair.
