What's next for the "Denk-mal" record for Carl Hahn senior?

Public discussion event on 28 November 2017, at 5 pm

In September, the Rotary Club had a "memorial" plaque laid for Carl Hahn Sr. at the Red Tower. This led to a public debate about Hahn's role as a board member of Auto Union and his associated responsibility for the use of forced labourers and concentration camp prisoners until 1945. Mayor Ludwig had suggested a scientific evaluation of Hahn's biography. An event format was developed for this together with academics from Chemnitz University of Technology.

The event will be moderated by Prof Dr Alexander Gallus, Chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas at Chemnitz University of Technology. Prof Dr Rudolf Boch, Chair of Economic and Social History at Chemnitz University of Technology, and PD Dr Tim Schanetzky from the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History at Friedrich Schiller University Jena will give short keynote speeches on the topic. After the introduction, there will be an opportunity for discussion, which should provide a basis for evaluating the use of the panel.

The discussion event will take place on Tuesday, 28 November 2017, at 5 p.m. in the "eins" youth hostel (Getreidemarkt 1, 09111 Chemnitz).

The event is open to the public. Interested parties are cordially invited.
