What to consider when recycling metallic materials

On Tuesday, 10 January, from 5 to 6.30 p.m., the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites interested parties to a lecture in course room 4.07 at the TIETZ. Entitled "Into the rubbish bin - and then what?", the talk will cover topics such as how metallic materials can be recycled.

The industrialised economy is highly dependent on raw materials. Metallic materials in particular are becoming increasingly important for modern living standards. Metal is used in all kinds of electronics, but can also be found in the form of food packaging or everyday objects. These and other important waste products can be returned to the economic cycle through recycling.
But which materials are actually recyclable and what do consumers need to bear in mind when separating waste? How can certain materials be recovered and where is the waste taken?
These and other questions will be answered by speaker Tobias Gaida from the waste counselling service of the City of Chemnitz's waste disposal and municipal cleaning company. As the city's own company, ASR is responsible for the daily waste disposal of around 130,000 households.
This information event is part of the series on raw material and supply security, which will focus on the three topics of energy, food and metal in the 2022 winter semester of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. In the 2023 summer semester, the series will then continue from March with the topics of water, earth and wood. The events are already available online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
