What is the most Finnish word of all?

On Friday 16 August at 6 pm, anyone interested is invited to a reading with Dieter Hermann Schmitz. The author is coming directly from Finland to read from the German editions of his books "Finnisch verheiratet. Oder auf der Suche nach dem finnischsten aller Worte" and "Mein finnisches Lieblingswort" and tell stories about life in Finland and the peculiarities of the Finnish language.
The reading in the FOKUS: EUROPA series will take place at the adult education centre in the TIETZ, 4th floor.
Admission is free of charge. Registration is not required.
Dieter Hermann Schmitz has lived in Finland for many years with his 'wet' family and stateless animals. He works at the University of Tampere and is involved in Finnish-German association work. His works are characterised by their wit and high entertainment value.
Novel "Finnish married. Or: In search of the most Finnish of words" (2020): After a traumatic flight to Finland, Dieter Hermann Schmitz resolves to make his whole family happy. At the same time, he takes part as a judge in a project to find the most Finnish of all words. The search for this word turns out to be just as complicated as the best intentions at home.
Anthology "My favourite Finnish word" (2023): Finnish is fantastic - as all those people who have embarked on learning this language as a foreign language know. "My favourite Finnish word" was a participatory campaign organised by the Association of Finnish-Germans and the German-Finnish Society. The entries are collected in this book: entertaining, amusing, informative, emotional or monosyllabic and meaningful. A declaration of love to the Finnish language!
