What does digitalisation mean for climate protection?
VHS@home: Online discussion on 17 March, 7 to 8.30 pm
As part of the smart democracy series, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is hosting an online discussion on Wednesday, 17 March from 7 to 8.30 p.m. on the question of whether the increasing digitalisation of society can contribute to a sustainable transformation and climate protection.
Experts Tilman Santarius, climate researcher from TU Berlin, and Anja Höfner, expert for sustainability, digitalisation and socio-ecological change at Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie Leipzig, will be on hand to answer questions.

Digital networking is constantly increasing in our everyday lives. Cloud systems and video conferencing are increasingly characterising the world of work, while the "smart home" is seen as both a vision and a nightmare for our own homes.
But what does this development mean for the urgent socio-ecological transformation of our society? Does "more" digitalisation also contribute to climate protection? How can we prevent efficiency gains from being lost again due to rebound effects? And how much energy does digital networking actually require?
This event is a co-operation between the German Adult Education Association (DVV) and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
