Werner Richter's 90th birthday concert
Concert at the Municipal Music School on 18 May, 6 pm
To mark the 90th birthday of Werner Richter, a major concert will take place on Saturday 18 May at 6 pm in the hall of the Municipal Music School. Admission is free.
Werner Richter would have been 90 years old on 16 May 2019. The Chemnitz composer taught accordion at the music school for many years. He was a founding teacher at the municipal music school in 1950 and worked here for 40 years. Werner Richter was an important composer for accordion and chamber music. An accordion competition named after him is held in Dresden every year.
The event will provide an overview of the various facets of his compositional work. Works for accordion, accordion orchestra as well as vocal and chamber music will be performed. Performers include the "Akkordeonata Elbflorenz" accordion orchestra from Dresden, the Hutholz Choir from Chemnitz, guests from the Clara Wieck District Music School in Zwickau and the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory in Dresden, as well as pupils and teachers from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
