Municipal music school: Interested parties can register now until 7 July
Interested accordion players can now register to take part in the 27th Werner Richter Competition. The competition is open to all non-professional musicians in the categories accordion solo, duo, ensemble and chamber music, bandoneon solo and open category in various age groups. The closing date for entries is 7 July.
The Werner Richter Competition is a Saxony-wide accordion competition and will take place this year on Saturday 30 September at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
Of the 36 participants last year, 19 received a prize in the various categories. The Werner Richter Trophy was won by 19-year-old Anna-Lena Kreher (photo) from Chemnitz for her outstanding performance in the competition.
Werner Richter was one of the founding teachers of the Chemnitz music school in 1950 and headed the accordion department for decades until his retirement. He was a pillar of music school life that many of today's teachers still remember well. He was respected and appreciated by colleagues and students alike. He could be relied upon to write suitable, inspiring and often amusing works for his students and ensembles, whether beginners or advanced.
