Welcoming the new trainees and students of the City of Chemnitz

Invitation to the photo session: 1 September, 10 a.m. at LUXOR Chemnitz

On Wednesday, 1 September at 10 a.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and Personnel Mayor Ralph Burghart will welcome the new trainees and students of the City of Chemnitz at the LUXOR Chemnitz Congress and Event Centre, thus ceremoniously opening the new 2021/22 training year.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

A total of around 1,100 applications were received for the advertised training occupations. This year, 49 trainees and students are starting an apprenticeship or degree programme.

These include

  • ten students in the higher general administrative service with the training objective "Bachelor of Laws"
  • one student in the higher administrative service with the training objective "Bachelor of Digital Administration"
  • five students in social pedagogy with the educational objective "Bachelor of Arts"
  • nine administrative assistants
  • two clerks for office management
  • one specialist for media and information services, specialising in archives
  • one specialist for media and information services, specialising in libraries
  • three qualified pool attendants
  • one gardener specialising in horticulture and landscaping
  • four emergency paramedics
  • nine nursery school teachers
  • one animal keeper
  • New: one geomatics technician (being trained for the first time)
  • new: one IT systems electronics technician (being trained for the first time)

With the new trainees and students, more than 200 young professionals will join Chemnitz City Council in September 2021.

The range of professions for which training can be started is based on the needs of the City of Chemnitz and can therefore vary from year to year. The demand-orientated training covers the city's own requirements for junior staff and thus increases the chances of trainees being offered permanent positions.

Demand is particularly high in the administrative professions and in the nursery teacher sector, and therefore the chances of being taken on in the coming years are also very high. More than 1,200 employees of the City of Chemnitz will retire by 2028.
